We are husband and wife, Seattle based photographers.
We shoot all kinds of events such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, auctions, and portraits and commercial /real estate.
We recently added Photo Booth – not just a tiny. Not just a tiny, because it is an open booth with portrait lighting.
I have years of experience working with children as a teacher, counselor, and school psychologist. But I have always been writing and photographing. I think my first photographs were published in East Magazine around 1970. I had traveled to the mountainous hot spring region of Niigata, Japan in snowy winter to visit the Snow Country of Yasunari Kawabata’s novel by that name.
- Newspaper Publications (photos/articles): More than seventy feature photo articles including The Japan Times (national daily English language daily), Seattle Weekly, The Seattle Press, Northwest Asian Weekly, Asia Today, Jewish Transcript (JT), Stars & Stripes (Dept of Defense), The International Educator, Pacifica (DoDDS)
- Magazine Publications (photos/articles): WAC Magazine (Washington Athletic Club), East Magazine, Islands Magazine, Linking Ring – International Brotherhood of Magicians (award for best series.)
I lived in Japan for about twenty-five years. I studied aikido and achieved the rank of black belt.
My goal is to offer clients the highest quality work and to develop great relationships with clients and community.
I am a member of Professional Photographers of America.
My passion for photography began when I discovered the microscopic world of plants. I enjoy capturing tiny universes within nature. Gradually, I also became interested in shooting insects. From that point, I started shooting flying or moving subjects. Surprisingly, this made me less afraid of birds. 😀
My event photography debut happened when my friend, David Lasky, asked Joel to shoot his comic class at 826 Seattle. I took Joel’s place, because he wasn’t available on that day. I never used to shoot with flash back then, so I quickly learned how from him. Everyone seemed to be satisfied with images I shot, so I began to join Joel –first as his assistant, and then as his partner.
