Making a PDF Slideshow

You can view PDF slideshow with Adobe Acrobat Reader after creating a slideshow with Photoshop Elements or Photoshop CS. If you can't play a PDF slideshow with your Acrobat Reader, you need to update your Acrobat Reader. You can download free from Adobe http://www.adobe.com/.

You will make use of:

  • Action Scripts
  • Batch rename
  • PDF Slideshow Tool

Before you start PDF slide show:

1. Make a folder called "SlideShow".

2. Put all your images for your slideshow into this folder. One side of the image should be at least 600 pixels or larger and the other side should be 900 pixels or larger. The image resolusion should be 96 dpi or more. It is okay if the image has layers. You can put both horizontal and vertical images in the same folder.


3. Make another folder called "jpg" in the "SlideShow" folder. All the jpg files creating with Action Scripts will be save in the "jpg" folder. (image1)

4. Open File Browser from Photoshop CS. Then open the SlideShow folder. (image 2)

5. Open Actions from Window.

6. Click "Create New Action" icon from the Actions pallete. (image3)
You can name this action "900 jpg". Click "OK".
Action scripts starts recording. All the action you are going to do will be recorded.

7. Double click and open your first image from the File Browser. And follow the direction.

  1. Open "Image Size" from "Image".
    Type 96 for Resolution
    Pixel Dimension width 900 x height 600 (or 600 x 900)
    Click "OK" (click here)
  2. Select "Fit Image" from File >automate.
    Type width 900/ height 900
    Click "OK".
  3. "Save as"
    Format "jpg"
    Choose the folder you created "jpg" inside the"SlideShow".
    Click "Save"
    Choose the Quality (suggest 10)
    Click "OK".
    Close the image. (Don't save. )
  4. Click "Stop" icon on the Actions palette.


8. Now open the "jpg" folder from the File Browser.
At this point, if you see image(s) you don't want to include in your slide show, you can trash them or take them away from this folder. Then change the order of images by selecting and dragging image(s) to a place in the browser. (You can't do this in Elements 2)

9. Automate > batch rename:
"Destination Folder" - select "Rename in same folder"
"File Naming" - type "slideshow" + choose "2 Digit Serial Number"
Type 1 for Starting serial #.
Click "OK". Photoshop CS will start batch rename.

When this finishes, you are ready to make a slide show. If you need to change anything, do now.

10. Now you are going to make a PDF slide show.

  1. File > automate >PDF Presentation
  2. Click "Browse" and choose all the images from the folder.
    You can press shift key and select all the images and click "Open".
  3. Output Option -- Save as : "Presentation". Check "View PDF after saving".
  4. Presentation option:
    Every "5" seconds
    Check "Loop after Last Page" if you wish
    Choose "trasition style you like" and Click " Save"
    Save as _______SlideShow.pdf. (Click here to see the screen shot.)

11. When it's done, Acrobat reader will open and your slide show will begin if you . To stop a slide show, press "esc" key.
